Obviously everyone had a different definition of what success is, and it's a very broad term if you regard it in that sense, the true definition of success as per Marriam-Webster dictionary is- 1. Obsolete 2. favorable or desired outcome and 3. One that succeeds. Therefore in a sense everyone's definition of success would be measured according to what they perceive as being the desired outcome of their own destiny.
But just for the sake of this blog we are going to go with the fact that most people in this world view success as having attained wealth and prosperity in business. Finances and material things seem to play a role in the perception of success as well. Let's say you walk by a less fortunate person on the street, and let's say that less fortunate person is walking into a payday loan store to get himself a cash advance, what is your first thought of that person? You may feel sorry for that person, but what if he doesn't feel sorry for himself? What if he is content with his life? Does that make him successful in his own right?
Why do we feel we have the right to judge people on what we perceive to be societal norms. What does it take for a person to be successful that was my main question? Why don't we take a look at what other "perceived" successes have said of this topic, there are tons of quotes we can chose from, but here are some of my favorites...
"The key to happiness is having dreams. The key to success is making your dreams come true." Anonymous
"What am I willing to sacrifice for what I want to become?" Anonymous
"The worst bankrupt in the world is the man who has lost his enthusiasm. let a man lose everything else in the world but his enthusiasm and he will come through again to success." H.W. Arnold "Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success." Dr. Joyce Brothers Of the hundred's or more quotes on success, one main theme seemed to repeat itself was that of "will", apparently will (or the willingness to do so) is what most people believe it takes for someone to be successful.
That last quote by Dr. Joyce Brothers resounds with me and goes back to what I mean when I say that perception is what makes one successful. So long as you believe that you are successful, then you are, and isn't that all that matters in this world. Go ahead and read quotes about success and let me know what you think? Also what is your favorite success quote?
